Add a new device

Set up fresh hardware with Anywhere AI — either from a downloaded installer, or from a bespoke image built for a single-board computer or a server/desktop.

Add a new device

Set up fresh hardware

Choose New device when you are preparing hardware that does not yet run Anywhere AI — a single-board computer, a server or a desktop. The wizard first asks whether you want a downloaded installer or a bespoke (built) installer tailored to that device.

Two ways to install

  • Downloaded installer — you name the device and pick how you will reach it, then run a ready-made installer.
  • Bespoke (built) installer — Anywhere AI builds a custom image for you. For a System-on-a-chip (SoC) board this is a custom image (IMG); for a Server / Desktop it is a custom ISO. Building runs as a job and produces a download once it finishes.

Downloaded installer

  1. Choose New device, then the Downloaded installer option.
  2. Set a device name. The name is checked for uniqueness; if it is already in use the wizard asks you to choose another.
  3. Choose the access you want — terminal or headless.
  4. The app then waits for the device to come online.
  5. Connection successful. The device appears in your Remote list and is ready to use.

Bespoke installer — System-on-a-chip (SoC)

This path builds a custom image (IMG) with your settings baked in. It has five steps:

  1. Select the SoC device you are setting up.
  2. Choose the internet / connection type.
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi credentials. These are written into the built image, not applied on first boot.
  4. Configure the operating system options.
  5. Submit a build job. It produces a custom image (IMG) you download.

When the image is ready, write it to the board's storage and boot it. Because the Wi-Fi credentials are already in the image, the device can join the network as it starts.

Bespoke installer — Server / Desktop

This path builds a custom ISO in two steps:

  1. Configure the ISO options.
  2. Submit a build job. It produces a custom ISO you download.

Write the ISO to boot media and install it on the machine.

Which installer options you can use depends on your plan; see Licence & billing.
